Since the summer of 2020, my dad, brother, and I have been working to restore an old 1966 MG Midget. So far it has been a great undertaking and we've been met with many more difficulties than anticipated. Still, it is a project that we have committed ourselves to and we hope to get the car up and running soon.
We found the car on Ebay and it had been sitting in a barn since the mid-70s. Luckily there was little to no rust on the car's frame and the car's original seats and steering wheel were still there. Still though, there was some rust damage and more than enough that needed to be worked on.
Strapping the car to a trailer, we began the journey home to begin our project.
The car was in far from good shape and as we began to examine the engine, we realized that it was completely frozen up and needed to be dismantled and cleaned in order to get it un-stuck. Furthermore, the engine head and body needed to be machined before it could be reassembled.
The engine and transmission needed to be completely removed before a full assessment could be made and repairs could begin. At this point, the engine has been completely un-frozen and machined and reconstruction of the engine is underway. Some repairs have been made to the engine bay itself but there is still much that needs to be done and we have faced some delays in our work.
